Marilyn A. Nickols, 82, of Monmouth, IL, died at 8:50 pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at her home.
She was born May 30, 1936 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Fred and Anna (Frye) Greenstreet. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1954.
Marilyn married Larry E. Nickols in Monmouth on March 29, 1957 and he passed away on September 20, 2013.
Marilyn worked at the Illinois Secretary of State office in Monmouth for 25 years before retiring in 1997.
She was a member and very involved at the First Christian Church of Monmouth. Marilyn volunteered at OSF Holy Family Medical Center and Jamieson Center. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her family and numerous friends.
Survivors include her children; Mitchell (Heide) Nickols of West Burlington, IA, Lane (Karen) Nickols of Sand Creek, MI, Martin (Laura) Nickols of Monmouth, and Michelle (Charlie) Dutton of Monmouth. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.
A gathering of family and friends will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A private family interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Monmouth.
