Codie M. Black

Codie M. Black, 20, of Galesburg, IL, passed away at 2:53 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Urbana, IL.

He was born on November 16, 1997 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Todd K. and Jori K. (Podrasky) Black.  Codie was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 2016.

Codie was currently a junior at the University of Illinois majoring in chemistry.  He worked at the Red Lion in Champaign, IL.  He loved to play tennis, and was a member of the Galesburg High School Tennis team and competed in the state meet his senior year.  Codie enjoyed basketball.  He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity at the U of I.

Surviving Codie is his mother, Jori Podrasky of Galesburg, IL; his father, Todd Black of Texas; one brother, Hayden Black of Galesburg, IL; maternal grandparents, Donald and Judy Podrasky of St. Louis, MO; paternal grandfather, Kent Black of Bellville, IL, and his girlfriend, Mercedes Bierman of Mattoon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marilee Black.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth with Rev. Bill Cordes officiating.  Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.  A memorial fund is being established and will be designated at a later date.
