Dee Ann Shuff, 84, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Courtyard Estates of Monmouth.
Dee Ann Smith was born on July 27, 1941, in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Dean Joseph and Joan Charlotte (Davis) Smith. She was raised in Larchland and Stronghurst area and graduated from Stronghurst High School in 1959. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Music from Monmouth College in 1963.
Dee Ann dedicated her career to public service and community involvement. She served as a Foreign Service Officer with USAID in Kenya and Somalia, later worked as a Department Head with the Social Security Administration Appeals, and most recently, as a Real Estate Agent with Monmouth Farm and Home Realty.
A devoted community leader, Dee Ann served as an Elder at Faith United Presbyterian Church, President of the Monmouth Rotary Club, and President of Chapter E of P.E.O. She also contributed her time as a board member for the Maple City Concert Series and Rainbow Riders, both in Monmouth.
In her college years, Dee Ann was honored as the 1962 Monmouth College Homecoming Queen and was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and its alumni group.
Dee Ann will be remembered for her lifelong commitment to service, her leadership, and her deep ties to the Monmouth community.
Surviving Dee Ann is her brother, Walter N. Prendergast of Reno, NV and her granddaughter, Victoria Elanor Smith of Grand Junction, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Curtis H. Smith.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside committal of ashes at Monmouth Cemetery will be announced at a later date. Memorials can be made to Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center in Monmouth and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
