Donna Rose Martin

Donna Rose Martin, 85, of Monmouth, IL, died on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Goldwater Care Center, Roseville, IL.

Donna was born on November 29, 1940 in Avon, IL the daughter of George David and Ethel Marie (Huntley) Swinger. She was raised and educated in Avon, graduating from Avon High School in 1958.

Donna married Leon Martin on August 31, 1958 at the Avon Methodist Church in Avon, and he passed away on November 23, 2020.

She was a bookkeeper for Saunders Hospital in Avon, Avon Motor Sales, National Bank of Monmouth and Sloss Bookkeeping.

She was a member of the Monmouth First United Methodist Church, Avon Jr. Women’s Club and a Bridge Club in Monmouth.

She enjoyed knitting, puzzles, playing golf, Scrabble and Nertz. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Craig) Armstrong; five grandchildren, Jason (Sydney) Bishop, Kayla (Dustin) Burnett, Corey (Mary Keenan) Armstrong, Chris (Lindsay) Armstrong and Megan (Doug) Thornton; five great-grandchildren, Adison Thornton, Cooper Thornton, Rowen Bishop, Larissa Armstrong and Rylan Bishop; and one sister Nancy (Max) Phelps and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 9, 2026 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory. Monmouth. Interment will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, IL. Open calling hours will be Thursday, January 8, 2026 all day until 6:00 pm at the funeral home, the family will not be present. Memorials may be given to Hospice Compassus or St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
