Elizabeth J. “Betty” Stuart, 77, of Cambridge, IL, passed away at 12:54 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Geneseo, IL.

She was born on November 7, 1941 in Kirkwood, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Flatley) Pape.  Betty was raised and educated in Kirkwood, IL.

Betty married Bruce Stuart in 1965.

Betty graduated from the Career Academy of Chicago in 1963 with a medical assistant degree and worked as a lab technician at the Galesburg Research Hospital for 15 years.  Upon closure of the Research Hospital she worked in the ASCS Office in Henry County for 10 years.  Most recently she worked at the Henry County Jail as a cook until her retirement where she was lovingly known as “Betty the Baker”.  Betty loved to crochet, garden, and cook.  Betty loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great  grandchildren; she made sure she always had kites and Matchbox cars for them to play with at her house.

Surviving Betty are her children, Diana (Mike) Scott of Virginia, Jim Stuart of Indiana, Brad (Chrissy) Stuart of Monmouth, Julie Stuart-Jones of Monmouth, Jeff (Terri) Stuart of Cambridge, IL; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Wilbur) Wigant and Bonnie (Dean) Talbot, both of Cambridge, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Bryan M. Stuart.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Monmouth, Illinois for family and friends.  Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
