Errol Zachmeyer

Errol G. Zachmeyer, 79, of Alexis, IL passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.

Errol was born September 20, 1946 in Monmouth, IL the son of Neil and Helen Eugina (Crapnell) Zachmeyer. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Warren High School in 1966.

He worked at the Carriage House in Galesburg as their go to guy for fixing and delivering furniture. He owned and operated E-Z Refinishing in Galesburg. Finally, he drove a school bus for First Student Transportation, Galesburg and Alwood School Districts for several years.

He was member of the Monmouth Flying Club. His passion was flying, even owning his own plane. Errol was very active in the Ham Radio community, having made contacts throughout world. He had a love for animals, especially dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lauren Zachmeyer and nephew, David Zachmeyer.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are planned at this time. A private interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Indian Hills Community College Aviation Department and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
