Gary D. Lybarger, 84, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL

Gary was born December 21, 1941, in Roseville, IL, the son of Louis and Maxine (Ross) Lybarger. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1960.

Gary married Elva Bickell in June 1962. He later married Connie Frakes-Rouse on February 28, 1986, in Burlington, IA, and she survives.

Gary started as a milkman for Maple City Dairy. He later worked for Outboard Marine Corp and Butler Manufacturing, both in Galesburg, and later was a bus driver for the United School District before fully retiring.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Bears and later the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed deer hunting and bowling. He loved attending the many sporting events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Debra (Gary Jones) Lybarger; daughter-in-law, Ann Lybarger, both of Galesburg; 3 grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Donnie (Robin) Lybarger and David (Rhonda) Lybarger, both of Monmouth; sisters, Jan (Gary) Robbins of Biggsville, IL, and Judy (Lloyd) Wall of Monmouth; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Scott Lybarger; his siblings, Barbara Brown, Victor Lybarger, Larry Lybarger, John Lybarger, and Carol Cook.

Cremation has been accorded. No services are planned at this time. A private family interment will take place at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Gary Lybarger Family and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
