Gary N. Simpson

Gary N. Simpson, 63, of Alexis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at his home.

He was born on January 31, 1963 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Richard and Janet (Shughart) Simpson.

Gary married Gina Taylor on June 24, 1989 in Woodhull, IL.

He worked for FBS in Aledo, IL and as Tech Support/System Analyst. Gary also worked for the Simpson Family Farms.

Gary enjoyed showing livestock, boating and sports of all kinds. He loved to travel, especially to New York and Florida. He also enjoyed going to see musicals and comedians. Most of all, Gary cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren.

Survivors include, his wife, Gina; daughters, Grace (Scotty) Waldrup and Gretchen (Tyler) Alwardt; grandkids, Ellen Alwardt and August (Gus) Alwardt; parents, Richard and Janet; sister, Kathy (Jeff) Dunn; mother-in-law, Sherrie Taylor; sister-in-law, LeAnn (Steve) Malecha; brother-in-law, Michael (Jodie) Taylor; and many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Maggie and Max.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin (Gladys) Simpson and Pete (Anna) Shughart; and father-in-law, Richard Taylor.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Alexis United Presbyterian Church, Alexis, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Interment will be in Norwood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Norwood Cemetery or the Alexis United Presbyterian Church and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
