Gerald V. Barker

Gerald V. Barker, 81, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 8:35 am, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home.

He was born April 27, 1937 in Sandusky, MI, the son of Virgil and Olive (Dean) Barker. He was raised and educated in Deckerville, MI, graduating from Deckerville High School in 1955.

Gerald married Cathy Howell in Nashville, TN on March 28, 1987 and she survives.

Gerald worked on the manufacturing line at the Ford Motor Company plant in Michigan, later working as a Lineman for GE Telephone Company in Monmouth.  He owned and operated the J & J Tap in Gladstone for several years.

Gerald was a handyman who enjoyed camping, fishing, yardwork and spending time outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy of Monmouth; 3 sons, Dan (Cindy) Barker of TX, Bill Barker and Rick Barker both of Oquawka, IL; 1 daughter, Cindy Barker; his brother, Dave (Irene) Barker of Deckerville, MI;  along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother

Cremation has been accorded.  No services are planned at this time.  Memorials may be given to the Gerald V. Barker memorial fund c/o McGuire & Davies Funeral and Crematory, P.O. Box 444, Monmouth, IL 61462. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is charge of the arrangements.
