Gerald T. “Jerry” McGuire,76, of Monmouth, IL formerly of Hanover Park, IL died at 3:00a.m., Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home.
Jerry was born July 16, 1940 in Chicago, IL the son of Aloysius J. “Al” and Mary T. (McKenna) McGuire. He was raised and educated in Chicago, graduating from St. George High School in 1958.
Jerry married Angeline S. Montalto in Chicago on June 16, 1962 and she survives.
Jerry worked for the City of Chicago for 8 years as a tree trimmer before beginning his long career with Pepsi Cola. He worked for Pepsi for 33 years starting out in charge of Special Events out of the 51st Street location for 7 years before moving into sales. He worked out of the Elk Grove Village and Aurora, IL distribution centers as the sales and distribution manager, which covered the west and southwest Chicago suburbs, before retiring in 1999. Jerry and Angie moved to Monmouth in 2001 where in 2005 they owned and operated a small Chicago Style hotdog shop, the Dawg Patch Diner.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and going to car shows.
Survivors include his wife; 3 children, Al (Bev) McGuire of Monmouth, Lisa M. (David) Arenson of Plato Center, IL and Gerald T. “Jerry” (Lisa) McGuire, Jr. of Lake in the Hills, IL; grandchildren, Matt (Susan) McGuire, Abby (Brad Spence) McGuire, Emma McGuire, Claire McGuire, Joshua Arenson, Tabitha Arenson, Jakob McGuire & Jason McGuire; brother, James McGuire of AZ; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judith McGuire.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. There will be a private family service with burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL. Memorials may be given to Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
