Glen E. Johnson, 62, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 2:56 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
He was born on February 3, 1958 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Wayne Eugene and Barbara Jean (Burford) Johnson. Glen was raised and educated in the Little York area and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1976. He later graduated from Carl Sandburg College in 1978 and Western Illinois University in 1980.
He married Patricia Jo Elliott on August 14, 2004 in Galena, IL; she survives.
Glen was a grain and livestock farmer all of his life. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and enjoyed the beach. He was a devoted fan of Illini sports and the Chicago Bears. Glen was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma. Glen was a volunteer firefighter for the Gerlaw Fire Department. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving Glen is his wife, Patty Johnson of Monmouth, IL; his mother, Barb Johnson of Monmouth, IL; brother, Ray (Laura) Johnson of Monmouth, IL; his children, Melissa (Jeremiah Flower of San Antonio, TX, Ashley (Ty) Dermer of Gladstone, IL, Jennifer (Jeff) Jensen of Roseville, IL, Eric Nicol of Monmouth, IL; grandchildren, Fiona & Noah of San Antonio, TX, Madisyn, Kamryn, , Graisyn, Kadyn, Abel of Gladstone, IL, Jax of Roseville, IL; step grandchildren, Dylan & Natalee of Gladstone, IL; one niece Jolie Johnson of Monmouth, IL; aunts, Beth Dowell, Delores Johnson, cousin, Lynn (Mary Ann) Dowell and family; three brothers-in-law, Bill (Kathy) Elliott of Indianapolis, IN, Dennis (Emily) Elliott of Bartlett, TN, Mike Sweeney of Fortville, IN; two sisters-in-law, Jean (Bob) Mann of West Point, IA, Sharon Elliott of Monmouth, IL; and loving dog, Cody.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Wayne Johnson; uncles, Carson Dowell, Rev. Robert Johnson; aunt, Donna LaGrand; his in-laws, Fred & Alma Elliott, sister-in-law, Debra Sweeney, and beloved dog, Jasper.
A private family funeral service will be at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. Open visitation will be from 9:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the funeral home, the family will not be present. Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or his grandchildren’s education fund.
