James H. Reynolds

James H. Reynolds Jr., 78, of Monmouth died at 4:23 P.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg. IL.

He was born in Galesburg, IL on November 27, 1934, the son of Howard and Dorothy (Mills) Reynolds of Cameron, IL. He attended schools in Cameron, Monmouth and Little York, graduating from Little York High School in 1952. He was active in the music department as well as the FFA, receiving the American Farmer Degree in 1953.

Jim married Eunice Peterson at her parents' rural home near Monmouth on February 28, 1953 and she survives. After farming for several years, he was employed by Yorkwood Schools and Monmouth College from which he retired in 1999.

Jim was a member of and currently served as Elder with Heritage United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, where he enjoyed singing with the choir and serving on several church committees. His Thursday nights were reserved for the men's group Promise Keepers, which he considered a great personal blessing.

He was an avid reader, World War II history enthusiast, enjoying Big Bands and dancing with his wife. He truly loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he survived by 3 sons, Jay Reynolds of Pollock, MO., Jeff Reynolds of Middlebury, CT and Jon Reynolds of Monmouth; 1 daughter, Julie (Scott) Buhmann of Hobart, IN.; 6 grandchildren, Jaime (Sean) El Talabani, Kelly (Sean) McGuire, Carrie and Aaron Buhmann all of Indiana, Casey and Brady Reynolds of Missouri; special great grandson, Ethan El Talabani and former daughter in law, Lora Reynolds.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of Jim's life will be 11:00 A.M. Wed. September 11, 2013 at the Heritage U.P. Church in Monmouth with Rev. John Irwin officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday morning at the Church where his family will be present from 9:30-11:00. Burial at Warren County Memorial Park will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to his Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements by McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, 309-734-6008.
