James “Jim” L. Lox, 62, of Oquawka, IL passed away at 4:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2023 at his home.
Jim was born September 5, 1961 in Burlington, IA, the son of Jackie Lee and Glenda (Lane) Lox. He was raised and educated in Oquawka.
Jim married Amy Widener in Oquawka on June 26, 1985 and she survives.
Jim owned and operated J & J Tree Service in Oquawka for close to 40 years. He loved working as a tree man.
He enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, hunting, reading as well as playing with his grandsons. He looked forward to the late-night slumber parties with his grandsons. Jim also had a soft spot for his cats.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Lox; his daughter, Amanda Troyer; his grandsons, Aaden Troyer, Bryson Troyer and Donavan Hays; 2 sisters, Donna (Kenny) Klick and Patty (Larry) Allen; his brother-in-law, Charlie Carlson; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Debra Carlson.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Jim & Amy Lox Home (1302 Township Rd 2200 N, Oquawka, IL 61469). Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be given to the James L. Lox Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
