Jane Hardin

Jane Hardin, 92, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 4:20 P.M., Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.

Jane was born December 1, 1925, in Peoria, IL, daughter of Donald Buckmaster and Ila (Bruington) Walker.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1943.  She later attended Wellesley College, Monmouth College and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Jane married Everitt F. Hardin in Augsburg, Germany, on July 31, 1949, and he survives.

She was a teacher for a brief time, but she was mostly a homemaker raising her family.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Monmouth, P.E.O., O.G.M. and Kappa Kappa Gamma.  She served on the Monmouth School Board and enjoyed gardening, reading and playing bridge.

Survivors include her husband, Everitt F. Hardin of Monmouth; son, Douglas D. Hardin of Monmouth; daughters: Susan E. (Abiel) Garza of Dallas, TX; Caroline “Lin” H. (Chris) Inoué of Santa Fe, NM; Meg H. (Rob) Lindsay of Spokane, WA; and Sarah J. Willett of Cameron, IL; 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and sister-in-law, Jane F. Walker, of Monmouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother F. Stuart Walker; her father-in- law, Dell B. Hardin and mother-in-law, Bess F. Hardin.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory.  Cremation has been accorded. Interment will be at Monmouth Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Warren County Public Library.
