Juanita Marie Holloway

Juanita M. Holloway, 84, of Mediapolis, IA, formerly of Alexis, IL, passed away on June 15, 2026 at Azria Health Prairie Ridge in Mediapolis.

She was born on October 30, 1941 in Doniphan, MO, the daughter of Cecil and Ruby (Kick) Miller. Juanita was raised and educated in Alexis and graduated from Alexis High School in 1959. She later attended the Moline Institute of Commerce.

Juanita married Richard “Dick” Holloway on February 16, 1980 in Galva, IL; he preceded her in death on April 14, 2014.

Juanita first worked as a waitress at Bob Evans restaurant in Galva. She later worked at Fisher Foods in Oquawka as a cashier. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and watching westerns, crocheting, and fishing.

Surviving Juanita is her brother, Dick (Linda) Miller of Alexis, IL; her sister, Evelyn (Gary) Simkins of Alexis, IL; her children, Linn (Kristi) French of Alexis, IL, Lisa Smith of Columbus, OH, Lana (Matt) Travis of Columbus, OH, Lyle Smith of Springfield, IL; her stepchildren, Gayle (Bernie) Stephan, Mike Smith, Steve (Jonie) Smith; 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, LaVerne Smith and Dick Holloway; and her brothers, Howard Miller, Earl Miller, and Robbie Miller.

Cremation rites have been accorded. In accordance with Juanita’s wishes, no visitation or funeral services are planned. Memorials can be made to the Juanita Holloway Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
