Kenneth L. “Kenny” Watson, 89, of Cameron, IL passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg, IL.
Kenny was born October 5, 1936, in Galesburg, the son of Cecil W. and Veanee (Young) Watson. He was raised and educated north of Cameron attending the Coldbrook Elementary School and later graduated from Monmouth High School in 1954.
Kenny served with the United States Army during the late 1950’s stationed in Alaska.
He married Glenna “Joan” Baker on June 10, 1961, at the Knoxville United Methodist Church and she passed away on October 10, 2003.
Following his discharge from the Army, Kenny farmed for 6 years. He later worked at Meling’s Motel and Restaurant for 15 years. Kenny was the Floyd Township Road Commissioner for 16 years. Following his retirement as the Road Commissioner he still stayed active working part-time for the Township.
He was a member of the Cameron Christian Church serving as Deacon. He was also a board member of the Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron.
Kenny enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, camping and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sons, David R. (Lisa) Watson and Roger E (Cathi) Watson; 3 grandchildren, Lukas (Bridjet) Watson, Erik (Molly) Watson and Rachel (Aleck) Main; 4 great-grandchildren, Declan Watson, Gareth Watson, Quinn Watson and Lyndin Main.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am. Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Cameron Christian Church. Interment will be at Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Cameron Christian Church and sent to the funeral home.
