Marilyn J. Johnson, 92, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Serenity of Lake Storey, Galesburg, IL.
She was born May 15, 1928 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Henry and Frances (Munson) Kinney. She was raised and educated in Little York, IL and graduated from Little York High School in 1946.
Marilyn married Richard Kinkaid. She later married Ralph Johnson on November 2, 1968 in Little York, IL; he preceded her in death in 1996.
Marilyn worked in Monmouth at Barns Grocery for 15 years and The Bottlery for 40 years. Marilyn was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She liked motorcycles and race cars; she and her husband enjoyed watching her sons race motorcycles and cars. Marilyn loved to dance.
Surviving Marilyn are her two sons, Michael Kinkaid of Monmouth, IL, Chuck Kinkaid of Galesburg, IL; her step children, Jenean (Gary) Shelton of Galesburg, IL, Tricia (Bob) Warren of Galesburg, IL, Teri (Dave) Alexander of Oquawka, IL, Cindy (John) Shepler of Monmouth, IL, Kim (Jeff) McGlamery of Tennessee, Bill (Trina) Johnson of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Tracey (Cormac) Watters of Ireland, Brian Kinkaid of Monmouth, IL, Bindy (Jay) Raymond of Monmouth, IL, Brittany (Matt) Browning Valdosta, GA, Braden Kinkaid of Galesburg, IL; fifteen step grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, twenty six step great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Gladys (Jim) Free of Little York, IL, many special friends and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Danny Lee; sister, Helen (Clyde) Campbell; two brothers, Bob Kinney and Dick Kinney; daughter-in-law, Kim Kinkaid.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Burial of her ashes will be in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, IL at a later date. Open visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 at the funeral home, the family will not be present. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church or the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
