Monmouth

Marshal C. Yeast, 88, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in rural Schuyler County, IL.

He was born May 24, 1938 in Macomb, IL, the son of Marion Gale and Ollie Jeanette (Long) Yeast. Marshal was raised and educated in rural Knox County and graduated from ROVA High School in 1957.

Marshal proudly served in the Illinois National Guard from April 5, 1958, until October 4, 1958. His military service reflected the sense of duty, dedication, and patriotism that characterized his life.

He married Madalyn K. Hendrickson on October 19, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, IL. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2023.

Marshal began his career in agricultural sales as an implement salesman for International Implement in Oneida, IL. After relocating with his family to Monmouth, he joined Olin & Swanson Implement, where he continued serving the farming community. Throughout his career, Marshal worked for several John Deere dealerships, building lasting relationships and earning the respect of customers and colleagues alike. Returning to Monmouth, he later joined Stockland FS as a salesman before moving to Bloomington to continue his career with Growmark. He remained with Growmark until his retirement, dedicating many years to the agricultural industry he loved. In 2000, Marshal and his wife returned to Monmouth to make their home once again. Retirement did not slow him down. Marshal enjoyed staying active and connected to agriculture by working for Robinson Farms, where he continued doing what he loved while spending time with the farming community that had been such an important part of his life.

In his free time, Marshal had a passion for restoring and working on antique tractors. He was an active member of the Maple City Antique Tractor Club and cherished the many tractor rides, shows, and friendships he enjoyed through the club. It was a lifelong interest that remained close to his heart. Marshal and his wife, Madalyn, also shared a love of camping with their children. What began as family tent-camping adventures eventually grew into decades of camping trips with a camper, creating countless cherished memories together. A talented woodworker, Marshal found great satisfaction in building and crafting projects for family and friends. Whether restoring a tractor, creating something in his workshop, or spending time outdoors with loved ones, he took pride in working with his hands and sharing his talents with others.

Marshal was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, IL, where he faithfully served as a trustee and shared his love of music as a member of the church choir.

Throughout his life, Marshal was deeply committed to serving his community and giving back to the organizations that were important to him. In his younger years, he was an active member of the Monmouth Jaycees, the Little York Lions Club, and the Little York Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Village Board of Little York and was a member of the Warren School Board, helping guide and support the local community and its future generations.

Marshal was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, reflecting his lifelong dedication to fellowship, service, and integrity. He also held leadership roles as Past President of the Young’s Lake Association and Past President of the Maple City Antique Tractor Association, combining his passion for community involvement with his love of the outdoors and antique tractors.
