Mary R. Battin

Mary R. Battin, 83, of Monmouth, IL died at 12:38 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

Mary was born June 19, 1933 in Eagle Grove, IA the daughter of Ray and Roxcena (Orr) Lalor. She was raised and educated in Ft. Dodge, IA

Mary married Jack W. Battin on August 13, 1950 in Ft. Dodge, IA and he died October 8, 2004. She lived in Ft. Dodge, IA; Country Club Hills, IL for 20 years and Slatington, PA before moving to Monmouth in 1989.

She was a homemaker and previously worked as a product demonstrator for 10 year before retiring in 1980.

She was a founding member of the Lutheran Church in Country Club Hills, IL. She was active in the City and Schools of Country Club Hill, IL for 20 years. Mary loved to sing, dance, and host gatherings for her family and friends. Everyone agreed that she as a wonderful cook.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Rick) Fox of Davenport, IA; son, Mark (Karen) Battin of Chicago; grandsons, Jeff Battin, Mark Battin and Julian Battin; granddaughters, Crystal Monteer, Amy Battin, Emily Battin and Grace Battin and 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Roger Lalor of TX and David Lalor of OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Greg Battin ; brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory. A private interment at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery will take place at a later date. Friends may call Tuesday where her family will be present 1 hour prior to the services. Memorials may be given to the Jamison Center, Meals on Wheels.
