Mary Helen St. George, 94, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 4:20 pm Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born on June 3, 1924 in Oneida, IL, the daughter of James and Grace (Melton) Kenney. Mary was raised on the family farm and graduated from Oneida High School in 1942. She then earned her teaching certificate at Western Illinois University.
Mary married Robert St. George on August 4, 1946 at her parents’ home in Rio, IL. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2005.
Mary taught at Mt. Joy, Ontario, Victoria & Frymire grade schools. Mary later became a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. She enjoyed driving her car, reading, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Surviving Mary are two sons, Gary (Debbie) St. George of Galesburg, IL and Ken (Terri) St. George of Monmouth, IL; six grandchildren, Bob (Karen) St. George, Andrew St. George, Thomas (Cait) St. George, Matthew (Brooke) St. George, Amy St. George and Abby St. George; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Madison, Greer, Maeve, Dylan, Jack, Charlie and Sutton Grace. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Kenney of Sacramento, CA, and Riley Kenney of Henderson, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Melton Kenney.
Graveside Services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Hope Cemetery in rural Warren County, IL. No visitation is planned. Memorials can be made to the Hope Cemetery or Strom Center in Monmouth. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
