Mary Alice (McLoskey) Toal, 72, of Monmouth died at 12:10 P.M., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born June 8, 1941 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Robert T. and Elizabeth (Dickson) McLoskey. She was a lifelong resident of Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School and later Monmouth College in 1963.
Mary served with the United State Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Mary married John C. Toal, Sr. at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth on Dec. 26, 1964 and he survives.
She worked as a P.E. teacher, swim team coach and substitute for Roseville HS, Monmouth HS and Warren Achievement School.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, P.E.O Chapter L.E., Maple Leaf Community Concerts, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni, Republican Women, American Legion, Monmouth Flying club and a scout leader WAC.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Kathleen (Bruce) Lee; son, Jack (Amy) Toal; grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Breayn Lee, Kelsey Lee, Kathryn Lee, Jessicah Toal, Alec Toal, Jared Toal, Ashton Toal, and Jace Toal; 4 sisters, Anne (Dick) Romine of Westminster, CA, Peg (Lane) McNitt of Mercer Island, WA, Sharon (Jerry) Steffel of Great Falls, VA, and A?d Terp Jensen of Copenhagen, Denmark; brother Bob (Jo) McLoskey of Cupertino, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Stephen McNitt.
Memorial mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth. Friends may call on Friday at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth where her family will be present from 5:30 -8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service beginning at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the 1st Armory, Monmouth or Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth.
