Rebecca S. Miller

Rebecca S. "Becky" Miller, age 58, of Oquawka, Ill., passed away at 9:55 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at her home in rural Oquawka.

She was born on June 29, 1954 in Macomb, Ill., and was the daughter of Gerald and Lois Breen. Becky attended Monmouth public schools and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1972. She married Kevin E. Miller on May 16, 1981 in Virginia, Ill., he survives.

Becky worked at Vaughn's Jewelry Store in Monmouth for many years. Becky loved people and truly enjoyed the stories people chose to embody in Jewelry and gifts. Like all things that shine, Becky captured the reflective prism of the human experience and loved the friends she made. She also loved home design, photography, and arts and crafts. She made many things, took incredible photographs and appreciated quality art. She was also a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi International.

Becky cherished family gatherings and loved to laugh and tell stories. The family gathered around her excellent cooking, as she created delicious meals and even more amazing deserts.

Becky is survived by her husband Kevin Miller of Oquawka, four children; Joe (Kendra) Dixon of Dunfermline, Ill., Ryan Dixon of Iowa City, Ia., Erin (Doug) Elliott of Cameron, Ill., and Brock Miller of Burlington, Ia. She has two granddaughters Lily and Ella Dixon and a third due in May. She has one sister Cheryl Thurman of Galesburg, Ill., and one brother Terry (Connie) Breen of Broken Arrow, OK., and is also survived by her mother-in-law, Marcelyn Miller of Monmouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father- in-law.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Fairview Center United Methodist Church, 1495 90th St., Monmouth, IL. Friends may call at the Church Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. A� 7:00 p.m., where her family will be present to receive friends. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Becky didn't want her family and friends to mourn their loss, but to celebrate her happy and joyous life. Becky is perfect; she is at peace ... SMILE!! A memorial fund has been established for Hospice Compassus. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
