Rodger E. Cook, 96, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Legacy Estates in Monmouth.

 

Rodger was born on April 24, 1928, in Monmouth, the son of Eldon M. and Gladys Loraine (McClintic) Cook. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth High School.

 

Rodger served with the United States Navy from 1950 until 1954.

 

Rodger married Martha M. Earp on July 21, 1956, in Monmouth and she passed away on February 22, 2024.

 

Rodger worked for the Warren County Highway Department for over 30 years, before retiring in 1993. He also worked as Pepsi delivery driver and a milkman.

 

He enjoyed mowing the yard, gardening, working around the house and surveying with Earl Bowlyou. He particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

 

Survivors include his two children, Rodney (Cathy) Cook and Wanda (Clifford Adam) Wilson both of Monmouth; four grandchildren, Jason (Nikki) Cook, Sarah (Jacob Jones) Cook, Allan (Corri VanDyke) Wilson Jr., and Jennifer (Drew Woodsmall) Schoene; eight great grandchildren, Caydence Wilson, Eldon Wilson, Maddie Cook, Cole Schoene, Aubrey Fowler, Bentley Jones, Riley Jones, Grace Cook; several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Richard Cook, Thomas Cook, and James Cook; and two sisters, Sally Larson and Patricia Benning.

 

Cremation rites have been accorded. No services are planned at this time. A private family interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. Memorials may be given to the Rodger E. Cook Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
