Scott P. Johnson, 42, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, IL.
He was born on March 20, 1984 in Peoria, IL, the son of Jimmy and Cheryl (Sandman) Johnson. Scott was raised and educated in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 2003.
Scott married Crystal Schisler on August 26, 2017, in Monmouth, IL; and she survives.
Scott dedicated more than 20 years of his life to the culinary profession, sharing his talent and passion for food while working at Sully’s Pub in Galesburg and Trax Northside Grill in Monmouth. He had a deep love for music, especially the sounds of Ozzy Osbourne and the Grateful Dead. In his free time, Scott enjoyed cooking, playing video games, and embracing the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. Most of all, Scott treasured the time he spent with his beloved wife, Crystal, and their cherished pets, dogs Rollins, Reigns, and Dobby, along with his beloved cat, Max. The bond he shared with Crystal was truly special, and she will forever cherish the memories she made with her “Puffin”.
Surviving Scott is his wife, Crystal Johnson of Monmouth, IL; his beloved pets; his father, Jimmy Johnson of Galesburg, IL; his father & mother-in law, Jeff & Lori Schisler of Monmouth, IL; his brother & sister-in-law, Kristopher & Shelby Schisler of Monmouth, IL; sister-in-law, Autumn Schisler of Monmouth, IL; his cousin, Courtney Pitts of Monmouth, IL; one brother; one aunt, Shelly Sandman of Galesburg, IL; one uncle, Mark & Rita Sandman of Galesburg, IL; 2 nieces & 3 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and his grandparents, Catherine & Lewis Schisler; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Scott Johnson Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.
