Steven C. "Wiener" Bruns

Steven C. “Wiener” Bruns, 57, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 12:12 pm Thursday, July 26, 2018, at his home.

He was born February 14, 1961, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Carl John and Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Stull) Bruns. Steve was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1979.  He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Alexis.

Steve married Kelly Ferris in Galesburg, IL, on July 23, 2005, she survives.

Steve worked for Jenks Family Farms as a truck driver, a job he very much enjoyed. The friendships that he made there were very special.

Steve lived his life as though the wings of the Harley Davidsons he loved so much were made just for him. Those wings carried him safely as he traveled many roads with his many friends. Steve had a passion his entire life for things that went fast.  If it went fast, then he likely had ridden, driven or owned one at some point in his life.  Steve lived his life by working hard, playing hard until the very end.  Steve always enjoyed being with his family and he loved his kids; always wanting the very best for them.  He was proud to be their DAD.

His family includes his wife, Kelly Bruns of Alexis; four children, Josh Nelson of Alexis, Bryce Bruns of LaSalle-Peru, IL, Tony Bruns of Galesburg, and Jewbele Robinson, of Alexis; mother, Betty Bruns of Alexis, sister, Nancy Miller of Alexis and brother, Paul J. (Jody ) Bruns of Castle Rock, CO; eight nieces and nephews, Joshua Bruns, Jason (Amy) Lair, Katie (Ryan) Condreay, Tommy (Kristen) Klouser, Tyler Klouser, Linda Klouser, Michael Klouser, and Anna Klouser.

He was preceded in death by his father; Carl, Grandparents, John and Regina Bruns, and Clarence and Mary Stull.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Alexis, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to the Steven C. “Wiener” Bruns Memorial Fund.
