Tara J Speck

Tara J. Speck, 68, of Monmouth, IL passed away on April 14, 2026, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.

Tara was born May 29, 1957, in Monmouth, the daughter of Buford and Eleanore (Quinn) Young. She was raised and educated in Monmouth where she attended Monmouth High School.

She married Richard Speck in Monmouth on July 3, 1976. He passed away on December 15, 2022.

Tara worked as a Pharmacy Technician in several pharmacies around the area including Walmart Pharmacy in Aledo, IL, Econo Foods in Monmouth and Shopko in Monmouth.

She enjoyed cooking and watching cooking shows, she loved time in the sun and shopping. She loved spending time outdoors with her family, she especially loved swimming.

Survivors include her daughters; Jessica Speck of Monmouth, Erica (Justin Olofson) Speck of Fairbury, IL; Grandchildren, Emma, Hudson, Wyatt, and Layla; 1 great granddaughter, London; one brother, Bill Young of Monmouth; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She is proceeded in death by, her husband; Richard Speck; granddaughter, Ireland; her parents, Buford and Eleanore Young; Siblings, Richard Young, Joe Young and Cathy Westman.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
