Teresa E. Shunick

Teresa E. Shunick, 69, of Rio, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at her home.

Teresa was born on April 15, 1957, in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Martin Laverne and Lois Marie (Hopkins) Jackson. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1975.

Teresa married David Wayne Treadway on May 29, 1976. He proceeded her in death on January 5, 1992. She later married Lawrence "LB" Shunick on August 17, 1996, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Alexis, IL and he survives.

Teresa worked at Bridgeway, Galesburg, IL, as a bookkeeper. She then ran the Carl Sandburg College Bookstore for many years. Teresa then did insurance auditing in Davenport, IA until her retirement.

She loved all crafts, especially knitting, crocheting and puzzles. Teresa enjoyed listening to music, especially rock and roll most. She was a loyal Chicago Bears fan. Teresa loved to meet with her coffee club every week. She was an avid gardener, taking great pride in her multiple flower beds. Most of all, Teresa enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, LB Shunick; her sons, Jason, Zachary and Levi Treadway; 6 grandchildren; her siblings, Beverly Scott, Andrew Jackson and Laura Beam; and brother and sisters in law, Stephanie, Kay, John, Debbie, and Michele. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband.

A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, November 6, 2026, at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. A private family interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Galesburg, IL at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and can be sent to the funeral home.
