Theresa Russell

Theresa Russell, 79, of Monmouth, IL died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at her home.

She was born January 28, 1937 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Ed and Pauline (Young) Patterson. Theresa was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1955.

Theresa married James Russell Jr. on July 25, 1965 in Monmouth, he survives.

Theresa first worked as a nurse’s assistant for Galesburg Research Hospital in Galesburg, IL, for several years. She later worked for Harding School as their secretary for 35 years. She enjoyed watching soap operas, westerns, and sports. She was a die-hard cubs fan; she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of St. James AME Church.

Surviving Theresa is her husband, James Russell of Monmouth; son, Derek Russell of Monmouth; daughter, Kimberleigh Nair of Monmouth; grandchildren, Rendon Patterson, Jordan Salyers, and Kealiah Randolph; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry (Molly) Patterson of Atlanta, GA, 3 sisters; Connie Patterson of Galesburg, IL, Sharon Patterson of Monmouth and Carole (Gabriel) Randolph of Monmouth. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17th, 2016 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Theresa Russell Memorial Fund.
