It is with great sadness that the family of Ty Michael McMullin announces that he passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 14th, at the age of 62 years.
He was born to Danny and Judy McMullin (Kenney) on December 8, 1962, in Galesburg, IL.
Ty married the love of his life, Victoria (Johnson), on July 22, 1989. They welcomed their only child and pride and joy, Danton Richard McMullin, to the world on October 27, 1994.
Ty was so proud of his son and cherished the times they spent together golfing, fishing, and watching daaa Bears!
Ty received an AAS degree in both Computer Networking and Hardware and Software Maintenance from Carl Sandburg College.
He was employed by Gallatin River Communications for many years before spending the last few as a network analyst for RFMS in Galesburg.
Ty was a husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, son-in-law, brother-in-law, Godfather, and friend. He shared a very special bond with his beloved Godson and nephew, Kellen Ehrenhardt. He will be lovingly missed by his wife and son; his father and step-mother, Danny and Marge McMullin; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Cherie McMullin; his sister and brother-in-law, Teri and Kevin Ehrenhardt; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Sue Colvin; his sister-in-law, Melissa Pedersen; his dear childhood friends, Bill Leeper and Al Goulding; and all the other friends he made along the way, including his dog, Jessie and cat, Meera.
Ty was preceded in death by his mother Judy McMullin (Kenney); his paternal grandparents, Marie and Harley McMullin; his maternal grandparents, Irene (Kenney) and Bill Day; his father-in law, Richard L. Johnson; step-father-in law, Chris Colvin; and his aunt and uncle, Pat and John Kenney.
Ty was a kind, fun-loving free spirit who spent his days off fishing, golfing, cruising country roads, and playing his prized Fender Stratocaster. He was a very bright and naturally talented man, excelling at anything he put his mind to. He loved music, movies, photography, and debating anything with friends and family. He constantly teased and tried to make the people around him laugh. And true or not, he always claimed to have never missed a free throw, never been skunked fishing, and that he taught the family cat how to say “water.” Cheers to you, Ty McMullin – you will be dearly missed and always loved.
