Barbara (Perrin) Owens

Barbara Owens, 83, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:13 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2019 at Legacy Estates of Monmouth.

She was born on April 2, 1936 in rural Alexis, IL, the daughter of Kenneth Dodson and Dorothy Margaret (Lohse) Perrin.  Barbara was raised and educated in Little York, graduating from Little York High School in 1954.

Barbara married Donald R. Owens on June 14, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth; he preceded her in death on September 19, 2016.

Barbara worked in office for Brown, Lynch Scott for a few years.  She later worked in payroll at Monmouth College and later as a receptionist for Dr. Chow and Dr. Alukal in Monmouth.

She was a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo at Strom Center, latch hook and Sudoku Puzzles.  She volunteered many hours at the Monmouth Hospital and Strom Center.

Surviving Barbara are three daughters, Susan (Jeff) Flynn of Little York, IL, Teresa (Randy) Smith of Normal, IL, and Michelle Greer of Vancouver, WA; her grandchildren, Marissa Flynn, Jordan (Jasmine) Flynn, Paul Ray, Renee Ray, Eric (Christian) Smith, Tracy Smith, Matthew Smith; ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one sister, Marilyn Perrin of Monmouth, IL and two brothers, Bob Perrin of Monmouth, and Jerry Perrin of Eldridge, IA; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Owens, her parents, two brothers; Donald Perrin and Raymond Perrin, sisters-in-law; Sandy Perrin and Jo Perrin.

Committal services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the Mausoleum at the Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded.  Memorials may be given to Legacy Estate, Monmouth, IL. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
