Burton "Lee" Zimmerman

Burton “Lee” Zimmerman, 65, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Prague, NE, passed away at 4:53 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2020 at his home.

He was born on September 14, 1954 in Avon, IL, the son of Luther B. and Alta Jane (White) Zimmerman.  Lee graduated from Cuba High School in 1972.

Lee was an over the road truck driver for many years.  He also was a self-employed mechanic.  Lee enjoyed fishing and making his own fishing lures.  He was a member of the Wiley Lutheran Church.

Surviving Lee are his children, Shane (Carrie) Danner of Roseville, IL, Bobby (Stephanie) Zimmerman of Galesburg, IL, Burton (Susan) Zimmerman of Philadelphia, PA, Jacinda Zimmerman of Galesburg, IL; six grandchildren, Brittany & Destiny Zimmerman of Granite City, IL, Bryson Zimmerman, Shandi Durdle, Elijah DeWitt all of Galesburg, IL, Kayla & Kelsey Zimmerman of Pennsylvania, and Lacie Danner of Roseville, IL.  One great grandson, Amari Zimmerman of Granite City, IL.  Also surviving are three sisters, Phyllis (Otho) Miller of Kirkwood, IL, Loretta (Billy) Carley of Pineville, NC, Mary (Richard) Kieme of Cuba, IL; two brothers, Burl Zimmerman of Yuma, AZ, Dean (Megan) Zimmerman of Pennsylvania.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded by his parents; three sisters, Carol Ferra, Joan Gustafson, Marguerite Appleby; and one brother, Bernard Zimmerman.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Wiley Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the Lee Zimmerman Memorial Fund.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
