Colleen J. (Sage) Larkins

Colleen J. Larkins, 85, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 7:05 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2020 at her home peacefully surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 4, 1935 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Harold L. Sr., and Grace (Honsman) Sage.  Colleen was raised and educated in Monmouth.

Colleen married John D. Larkins on June 11, 1954 in Monmouth, IL; he preceded her in death on January 11, 2016.

Colleen worked at the Knox County Nursing Home and the Galesburg Convalescent Center as a nurse’s aide for many years.  She was also a homemaker and loved to take care of her family.  Colleen enjoyed reading, crocheting, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and there was always room for one more.

She is survived by two sons, Dale (Pam) Larkins and Tim (Becky) Larkins both of Galesburg; four daughters, Joyce (Tom) Helms of Galesburg, Janet Pierce of Galesburg, Judi (Don) Jarvis of Rock Island, and Julie Baldwin of Albany, Ohio. She had ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and two great great grandsons.  Also surviving is one sister, Darlene Moffett of Monmouth, IL, and one brother, Lloyd “Joe” Sage of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Larkins; three sisters, Violet Welty, Bonnie Wells, Carol Buckley; three brothers, Jesse “Doc” Sage, Harold Sage, Jr., Orvillle Sage, and one granddaughter, Michelle Hopkins.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, IL.  No visitation hours are planned.  Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees must wear a mask and social distance.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
