Gary L. Davis, 68, of Smithshire, IL, passed away at 1:18 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 10, 1954 in Monmouth, IL, the son of William and Amy (Thomas) Davis.  Gary was raised and educated in Monmouth.

Gary married Terry Stokes on April 21, 1989 in Burlington, IA; she survives.

Gary first worked with his dad painting for several years.  He later worked at Fell Industries and painted boats.  Gary most recently worked for Peoria Siding Company until his retirement.  He enjoyed spending time on the river and going fishing.  Gary like to hunt and build things out of wood.

Surviving Gary is his wife, Terry Davis of Smithshire, IL, his children, Emily (Robert Pulley) Trimble of Galesburg, IL, Dawn (Todd) Foglesong of Oneida, IL, Patricia ODuor of Kansas City, MO, Anthony (Terri) Gittings of Stronghurst, IL, David Sandoval of Smithshire, IL; twenty one grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Debra Groves of Glasgow, KY, Kay Marr of Rocky Hill, KY; father & mother in law, Robert & Gerry Gittings of Little York, IL; sister in law, Valerie (Mike) Huber of Seaton, IL; brother in laws, Cecil (Paula) Gittings of Tuttle, OK, Daryl (Debbie) Gittings of Allendale, IL.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents, one brother, Charles Davis, and one daughter, Katie Arnold.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer.  Memorials can be made to the Gary Davis Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth is in charge of the arrangements.
