Irvin “Irv” F. Haase, 77, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 8:18 pm, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home.

Irv was born May 16, 1943 in Fairbury, IL, the son of Fred G. and Gladys Fern (Dennewitz) Haase.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, IL, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1961.

Irv served with the Illinois National Guard from 1962-1968.

Irv married Carol Harris on July 17, 1966 at the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth and she survives.

Irv worked as a salesman and small business owner his whole life.  He began working at age 15 at Patton’s Seed and Hardware in Monmouth, IL.  He later worked for Halcomb Oil Company in Monmouth, IL driving a delivery truck.  He was the assistant manager at the Macomb True Value Hardware store and then back to Patton’s Seed and Hardware as the manager.  He was later the manager of the Ace Hardware in Draffenville, KY for 2 years.  Upon his return to Monmouth, he was the Service and Returns manager at the Gambles Warehouse.  Irv worked as a salesman and parts manager for the Ford Dealership in Monmouth.  He later worked at Gale Wards Sporting Goods in Galesburg, IL as an on the road salesman until they closed.  He also worked as salesman for Office Specialists in Galesburg before he and Carol opened Haase Embroidery & Printing in Monmouth, IL in 1991 before retiring in February 2020.

He was of Lutheran Faith.  Irv was a member of the Monmouth American Legion Post #136 and served on the Honor Squad for 14 years.  He was also a member of the Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and previously served as President during his time at Patton’s Seed and Hardware.  He was President of the MHS Booster Club for several years and started the Booster Club Dance/Fundraiser and purchased the “Button Machine” during that tenure.  He cooked “Thousands” of pork chops as a fundraiser for the booster club and he was a great supporter of all organizations that supported youth activities.

Irv loved spending time with his family and especially watching his grandchildren participate in sports, music and livestock events.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carol Haase of Monmouth, IL; his children, Brenda (Craig) Smith of Chillicothe, IL, Steve (Shelly) Haase of Bloomington, IL, and Becky (Chad) Benedict of Dewey, IL; his grandchildren, Tyson (Emily) Smith, Tanner (Alexa) Smith, Josiah Smith, Mikayla Smith and Devin Smith, Noah Benedict, Caleb Benedict and Faith Benedict, Maddie Haase, Sydney Haase and Anna Haase; his great grandchildren, Oliver and Hannah Smith, Dane Smith and soon to be Ellowyn Abella Smith;  his brother, Ivan (Paige) Haase of Palm Harbor, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Francis Haase, Alfred “Allie” Haase, Marvin Haase and Larry Haase; 2 sisters, Florence McBroom and Eunice Gaskill.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, May 3, 2021 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment with Military Honors will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 12:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, all attendees must wear a mask and social distance. Memorials may be given to Monmouth American Legion/VFW Honor Squad.
