Karen S. Villegas

Karen S. Villegas, 63, of Depue, IL, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Margaret’s Hospital, Spring Valley, IL.

She was born on February 5, 1957 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Harold D. and Mary L. (Shawler) Hasting.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth.

Karen married Juan P. Villegas on October 8, 1977 in Monmouth, IL; he survives.

Karen was a homemaker, loved to take care of her family.  She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, plastic canvas, adult coloring, and finding the most unusual flavors of food.  Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving Karen is her husband, Juan Villegas of DePue, IL; her children, Mercedes Villegas, Guadalupe Villegas, Maria Villegas, and Juan Villegas.  Also surviving is her mother, Mary L. Hasting; one brother, Perry Hasting; and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Hasting; one son, Corey Hasting; one daughter, Sheila Villegas; and three sisters, Mary Jane Shafer, June A. Lenover, and Ellen M. Cole.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2020 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.  Memorials can be made to the Karen Villegas Memorial Fund.  Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and requirements, all attendees are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
