Kevin M. Niemann

Kevin Mark Niemann, 56, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:37 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2018 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Kevin was born November 2, 1961 in Trenton, MI, the son of Werner “Vern” F. and Lorraine (Kamin) Niemann. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School for grades K-8 and later graduated from Huron High School in 1979. He later earned a degree in Architectural Technology from Monroe Community College.

Kevin married Sarah Martinez at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waltz, MI on November 11, 1989, and she survives.

Kevin was a Union Journeyman Electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local #34 and the Local 520 in Austin, TX for a total of 35 years.

He was an avid Detroit Redwings, Lions and Tigers fan. He was a member of the Detroit rock band, Danger Zone. Kevin enjoyed being outdoors and relaxing with his refreshment. He enjoyed going to Tooties Bar and visiting with friends. His first priority was spending as much time as he could with his family, children and grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Niemann; 2 children, Heidi Nicole Niemann and Alexander James “A.J.” (Sonia) Niemann; grandson, Christian James Niemann all of Monmouth; his mother, Lorraine Niemann of Waltz, MI; 2 sisters, Debra Niemann of Waltz, MI and Dianne Kaiser of Monroe, MI; 1 brother, Gilbert (Jean) Niemann of Rockdale, TX; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Werner F. Niemann, a World War II veteran.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral and Crematory, Monmouth. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be given to the Kevin Niemann Memorial Fund.
