Rebecca "Becky" J Miller

Rebecca J. “Becky” Miller, 90, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 2:17 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Roseville Rehab and Healthcare, Roseville, IL.

She was born February 8, 1928 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Arthur W. and Florence Imogene (McKee) Damewood.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth graduating from Monmouth High School in 1947.  She later attended the Morris School of Cosmetology.

Becky married Jack S. Miller on November 27, 1949 at the Monmouth Methodist Church.  Jack died on February 5, 2013.

She was a co-owner of Bonna & Becky’s Beauty Shop in Monmouth for several years.  She was later employed by the Monmouth School District as a secretary at Central Jr. High for 22 years before retiring in 1988.

Becky was a member of the Heritage United Presbyterian Church and the Bunko Club.  She enjoyed working on cross-stitch, gardening, raising roses and attending as many of her grandchildren’s events as possible.

Survivors include her son, J. Kenneth (Teresa) Miller; daughter, Sherrie P. Creighton both of Monmouth; grandsons, Jacob (Elizabeth) Miller of Galesburg, Joseph (Rae) Miller of Monmouth, Jess (Dana) Miller of Mahomet, IL, Shane Creighton of Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Eli and Emma Miller of Monmouth, and Camdyn and Carsyn Miller of Galesburg.  A sister, Elizabeth Armstrong of Evans, CO along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Justin E. Creighton; sister, Rosie Barry; a brother, Donald Damewood, brother-in-law’s Richard Armstrong, and John Barry, and sister-in-law Shirley Damewood.

Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside committal services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth.  Memorials may be given to Monmouth Ecumenical Singers or Heritage Bible Church.  McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of the arrangements.
