Sally (Gilbreth) Shaw

Sally Jo Gilbreth Shaw, 82, Monmouth, IL, died Sunday, May 24, 2020 at her home.

Sally was born in Natchez, Mississippi to John and Virginia (McLean) Gilbreth, July 20, 1937. Sally had older twin sisters, Betty and Helen. Sally began her schooling in Natchez but later moved to Dallas City, IL. and graduated from Dallas City High School.

Sally married the love of her life, Joe Shaw on September 2, 1955 and together they raised three children, Rory, Pamela and Jeffrey. Sally began as a homemaker and mother, but eventually began her long career as head bookkeeper at Community National Bank in Monmouth. Sally was a devoted wife to Joe and devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. Their home was always full of good food and good company. In addition to their family, Joe and Sally had a border collie, Maize, who became their loyal companion. All three of them retired to Lake Warren where they enjoyed golf cart rides, new friends and a beautiful scenery.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Rory Shaw of Monmouth, IL; daughter, Pam Shaw (Todd) Franzen of Taylor Ridge, IL. Grandchildren, Jason Shaw & Allison Buccalo (girlfriend), Heath Shaw, Stephanie Shaw (Jimmy) McVey, Amanda (Nate) Hoover, Andrea (Corey) Johnston, Joshua Franzen, Hailey (Brad) Brey, Hannah (Joe) Lucero,  Jake (Samantha) Shaw and thirteen great grandchildren; Zach, Luke, and Molly McVey, Kyle and Katie Shaw, Hayden, Holden and Hosea Hoover, Emma, Josiah and Kaisyn (Kane) Johnston, Savannah Jo Shaw and Haddie Jolene Lucero.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister, Betty, loyal husband, Joe, and loving son, Jeff.

The family is planning a private celebration later this summer at Harris cemetery, Dallas City, IL graveside where the ashes of Sally, Joe and Maize will be laid to rest. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Lake Warren Memorial Fund. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of arrangements.
